North Dallas is generally known as North of Royal Lane, West of Central Expressway and going North past L.B.J. up to Plano, Addison, Garland and Richardson. North Dallas real estate is known for its larger lots, well-built houses, trees, and excellent shopping. Access to numerous schools is nearby. There are many wonderful pockets of properties in North Dallas that range from grand estates to interesting smaller houses that back up to creeks and green belts. Driving time to downtown is 15-20 minutes and the Galleria is moments away. North Dallas was developed primarily in the 1950’s through 1970’s.

Recently, in the 1980’s and 90’s, numerous smaller houses have been torn down with larger houses replacing them. During the past few years many of the shopping centers and retail areas developed in the 1950’s and 60’s have been renovated with delightful specialty stores and excellent grocery stores coming in. Examples of these are the Whole Foods Market in Preston Forest and Borders Books and Music in Preston Royal. The Galleria at L.B.J. and the Toll Road is nationally known for some of the best shopping in the Southwest.
